Comment from Slip :
I tried making this last night and you know…it’s just as simple asthe directions make it out to be and it actually tastes pretty good.
One extra bit that was helpful: use a little butter on the panbefore putting in the oranges and then sprinkle some sugar on top ofthat. The cake comes out of the pan really easily once it’s done baking.
Comment from ??? :
I made one. It’s a cake that hasn’t risen. Which tastes like crap.
Comment from Slip :
It should “rise” about as much as the one in the picture did. If it’s flatter than that here’s a couple things that can help:
1.) Mix the butter and sugar together first till they’re reasonablysmooth. That helps puff up the butter a bit and give it some volume.
2.) Mix the eggs in gently. The rising a cake like that does is due(I think) to the protein chains in the eggs forming a supportingstructure for the rest of the cake.
Between those two things, the cake should come out looking prettymuch like the picture. It will still be fairly dense - more like apound cake than a birthday cake.
As for flavor? It’s butter, sugar, flour and egg - pretty simpleflavors there. Same thing you find in the dough for chocolate chipcookies. If you don’t like it on a basic cake flavor angle then it’sjust not for you.
If you don’t like the orange part of it, try another fruit you dolike (pears, peaches, whatever). If it’s a dry fruit you may need toadd a little extra juice in along with the fruit though since the juiceturning to steam is one of the factors in getting a cake like this torise.
Oh, and a slight clarification on my original post -> Butter thepan, put the sugar on top of that and then the fruit on top of thesugar. That’s the way to get it to come out of the pan easily.
PART II: A 5th Expansion???!!!

Square-Enix has gotten a new trademark: “Blood of Bahamut”. While there is some speculation that it’s a sequel to their Bahamut Lagoon game, some players are thinking it could be a new Final Fantasy XI expansion to be shown off at this years Tokyo Game Show which is set to start next month.

When looking at the other names of the expansion packs, its always’something’ of ’something’, Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia,Wings of the Goddess etc. Blood of Bahamut would definitely fit intothe style of the expansion names.
One player on the Allakhazam forums has looked this up on the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)and found that while it does appear to be a video game there is nomention of any online or network activity. So it’s possible the news ofa new expansion died shortly after it came out. Hopefully TGS can sheda little more light on this.
