Spent the mornin helping my cousin get his cap quest done then Sati came around and we got him his Paladin AF boots. I think things would have been fine and dandy if they had stayed that way, but of course... something just -has- to go wrong.
This time a fellow in Jeuno notices Demontro (my cousin) is a paladin and randomly asks him if he needs help with his AF. He says he has a 75SAM and will help out. Me, I'm skeptical because its very rare to find people that help others just out of the blue with nothing in it for them. So we told him we only needed one more item for the cap quest then could start af. We head to Garlaige for the bomb coal, and not only does this guy not offer to help open the banishing gate when we find out that's where it is, but he sits his happy ass in Jeuno while we go and fight the NM for Demon's AF boots. So.. where's the help?
Sati leaves after that since he had to deliver a load and we decide we'll get his hands out of the way next and fight DS. His hands coffer is unfortunately in Eldieme with its stupid switches of stupidness. So we head out. Mister 75 SAM has no idea where the entrance to the meat of Eldieme is at and he has to follow Demon (50 PLD) out to where I was waitin for them. After much confusion we finally manage to get to the center room where the key mobs would be down the drop there. The first key drops pretty quickly.
That's right, I said first key. Because low and behold this fellow wants a key too. For HIS paladin AF. Le gasp! I was right! This dude only wanted to leech help for coffer mobs it seems. And I do mean leech because after that first key drop, which Demon won the lot to, he runs off ahead looking for more mobs and ends up falling down a one-way drop that puts him back at the easy, non-coffer-key dropping mobs. So me and Demon go off and fight stuff for his key while he sits there twiddling his proverbial thumbs. Get the key drop and then start looking for a coffer. I was hoping it would be on our side of the one way drop, but luck wasn't with us this day! We head back to the main entrance and start searching. He decides he'll camp the first room that has a coffer in it and lets us run around looking for the current spawn. Which means he's willing to sit there for 45 mins after we find Demon's rather than helping us look for the spawn and then /randoming over the coffer like civilized ppl would do.
Neither of them ended up getting the coffer. I guess the good news is that he probably sat there for a LOT longer than expected. The bad news is that I made a stupid mistake and got mahself killed. 9.9; See, I thought the only EP to 75 mobs were the ones down the drop in the center room. So after getting to the northern room, I sneak up Demon and we jump down. I immedietely get looked at by 3 elvaan zombies and a couple haunts start waving their hands at me. I think I had enough time to type "Oh shit" in LS chat before both of us got killed. Demon probably would have been fine if the haunts hadn't casted stoneaga III. We HP'd and decided to call it and try later. Without the 'help' of our new SAM friend.
So... the moral of the storeh: Elvaan zombies and lazy leeching samurai do not mix. He'd of been of much more use if we had used him for zombie bait and pushed him down the drop first to make sure it was safe.
*sigh* Why do these brilliant ideas only come to me hours after they would be of use? :P
