Your all signed up, figured out a character, have gotten online and now what? Well, read on! This blog doesn't try to tell you anything specific. But it should give you an idea of what to look for in such places as the FFXI wiki.

Basic Training

When you signed up you were given a weapon and some armor. Learn to equip weapons and armor and how to heal before going outside.  Nothing more frustrating than being a White Mage trying to level up while fighting hand-to-hand!

When you whack things outside the city, you will often be rewarded by drops. Each drop fills up a  

 There is a lot to do in FFXI. For a lot of people, it's just a matter of joining a party and fighting and clawing your way to the top. But to get there, you have to at least dabble around with quests and missions and perhaps learn some of the history of this world. 

 Certain things in FFXI that you will want or need can only be gotten if your rank in a certain area is high enough. To get rank, you will need to complete missions for your home city. For example, Rank 5 is required for you to have an airboat pass. 

 Other things can only be gotten if you have enough fame. Fame is raised by doing Quests. You not only can get items you need when you have fame, but you can get a better price from merchants.
