Hello again, fellow adventurers! Silentlucidity here, from the corner of my mog house, patiently awaiting an invite to kick some imp, bird, and/or lizardman butt. Although invites are few and far between, I do my best to make the most of them.
I've chosen to write tonight because of an event that is bound to happen. After my 4 long, painful years on Vana'diel, I am finally set to achieve greatness. As of last night, I am now a level 74 Dragoon.
I feel so amazing, knowing that I am so close to finally reaching the end to my journey of experience. To move on to the things I haven't made time for due to my hardcore leveling. I mean, how many other level 74 rank 2 adventurers do you know?
But this whole ordeal has got me thinking about how I've viewed level 75 throughout the years. When I began so long ago, if I ever witnessed someone who was at this monumental level, I would bow down to his or her legendary greatness. In my young eyes, I saw this as a person of great honor, who should be respected by all for their achievements.
As my adventuring days continued, I was still starstruck on the rare occasion that I ran into one of these legends of their own time. Of course, today is a lot different than it was 4 years ago.
Nowadays, seeing someone reach level 75 is almost commonplace. Somehow along the way, reaching this point no longer meant "pure, unfiltered greatness", but instead now means "no longer a n00b". To the point where when someone dings onto this last level, they get nothing beyond the same "Congratulations!" you'd expect a level 12 warrior to get.
Looking back on my journey, now being so close to achieving my 4 year goal, I believe it is time to once again honor the achievements of our fellow adventurers who have gone all the way. To applaud them for their strengths. To respect them for their endurance. And to admire them for their dedication.
To all of my hopefully soon-to-be fellow 75'ers out there, I salute you. For everything you have accomplished in Vana'diel is not in vein. There may be much more ahead in our future, but let us not forget the trials of our past. Let us not forget why these masters of their field are the elite. To all level 75 adventurers I simply offer my must humble and respectful, Congratulations.
